Pair of rare “Java” table lamps by Mathieu Matégot, 1950s
This rare and iconic table lamps by Mathieu Matégot were produced in the 1950s for Ateliers Matégot.
Made out of corrugated metal sheets, perforated with large circles, and brass feet, with a rotating upper shade, these lamps create beautiful light effects and are truly rare and highly collectible items. Their colors, red and black, are a perfect match making them a unique pair that can enrich any sophisticated design collection.
These lamps are an outstanding example of the genius of the French-Hungarian design master, able to find a creative source in the use of simple materials typical of the post-war reconstruction period.
