Rare pair of “Corinna” bedside tables designed by architect Ignazio Gardella in 1985 for MisuraEmme, a Brianza manufacturer renowned for its collaborations with leading Milanese designers. The “Corinna” model formed part of a concise bedroom program that also included the “Mirtide” dresser and the “Pindaro” bed, all characterized by a measured, architectural language rather than overt postmodernism.
Executed in gunmetal-grey glossy lacquered wood, the nightstands feature side panels pierced by a rhythmic sequence of oval apertures and an open front articulated by three gently curved rails. The compact cubic volume reads as a small piece of architecture: clear planes, softened edges, and a reflective finish that enhances the model’s sculptural presence while remaining practical at the bedside.
Produced from 1985 and discontinued before 1990, surviving examples are scarce. This pair comes from the stock of a historic furniture store in the province of Pavia and shows only minimal signs of handling from showroom display and storage. Archival confirmation from MisuraEmme supports the model and dating; during the same collaboration Gardella also designed the “Partenio” table and the “Elegie” bookcase (the latter a re-edition of his Azucena design).
Pair them with a “Mirtide” dresser from the same series.
