Designed by Joe Colombo for O-Luce in 1967, the Coupé series continues the research he had begun with the Spider. The series grew into table, floor, wall and clamp versions, with either a cylindrical or a semi-spherical shade; these are the arc wall lamps with the cylindrical shade. The Spider had also included an arc wall version, but its diffuser was slightly less directable: with the Coupé, Colombo made the light fully steerable.
A chromed steel arc springs from the wall and carries the cylindrical shade, cut by a milled slit across the top. A black plastic joint lets the reflector tilt, rotate and slide along the arc to change height, so the beam can be aimed precisely where it is needed; the switch sits on the shade itself. The double wall mount, two interlocking discs, is no longer produced and confirms the early manufacture of these examples. The arc wall version itself has long been out of production at O-Luce.
Both lamps are in Very good vintage condition, with normal signs of use and patina and no dents or significant defects. Available individually or as a pair.
