Designed by architect Piero De Martini for Arteluce in the 1980s, “Le Falene” is a rare and sought-after table lamp that captures the decade’s playful rigor. This example comes in the striking yellow edition—especially desirable among collectors—and is preserved as new old stock with its original box and label.

The lamp’s ingenuity lies in its sail-like synthetic fabric shade, lightly tensioned over a slim metal frame. Unlike most table lamps, the structure retains a gentle elasticity: it moves slightly to the touch, revealing the lightness of its construction. The shade produces a soft, diffuse ambient glow; the standard E27 socket allows practical use with contemporary LED bulbs. With generous proportions, it serves equally well on a desk, console, or sideboard.

Technically refined yet joyful, “Le Falene” translates De Martini’s elegant essentialism into a vivid pop register. This discontinued model remains difficult to source in unused condition, and the presence of the original packaging further underscores its collectibility.
