Melpomene coat hanger by Studio BBPR for Artemide, 1970s
Melpomene coat hanger designed by Studio BBPR for Artemide in the 1970s.
This sculptural Italian design coat stand reflects the experimental spirit of the decade and the innovative vision of the renowned BBPR collective, key figures in post-war architecture and vintage Italian furniture. Produced by Artemide, one of the most iconic names in Italian vintage design.
Crafted in burnished chrome-plated brass, it combines sturdiness with an elegant lightness. Its radial, dynamic structure makes it not only a functional coat hanger but also a striking decorative piece for an entrance hall, studio, or public space; reminiscent of art-deco in contrast to the main design trends of the 1970s.
Functionally, the coat stand allows 6 coats to be hung comfortably, without creasing thanks to the rounded hangers, and also has 6 smaller hooks where scarves and bags can be hung.
