Rationalist armchair by Cova Milano, 1930s, chrome tubular metal and bent plywood
This rationalist armchair was produced by Cova Milano in the 1930s. Made of chrome-plated tubular metal and stained bent plywood, it represents one of the earliest examples of Italian rationalist seating, directly inspired by the pioneering work of Marcel Breuer and Mart Stam at the Bauhaus.
Minimal yet refined, the chair embodies the aesthetics of modernism: structural clarity, functional design, and an honest use of materials. Its compact size and elegant proportions make it perfectly suited, for example, as a desk chair in a contemporary setting.
Condition: excellent vintage condition, with normal wear that creates a beautiful patina, completely original and structurally solid.
A rare early example of Italian rationalist seating by Cova Milano, highly collectible within the tradition of 20th-century modernist design.
