“Cubo 3018 B” by Enzo Mari for Danese Milano, 1960s

Consisting of a polyester resin cube into which a cast iron sphere has been dipped, this art multiple was designed by artist and designer Enzo Mari in 1959 for Danese, and it is listed in Danese catalog as model 3018 B.

Within the cubes designed by Mari, this one belongs to the largest, measuring 7 cm on each side. With this series of works, the design master wanted to highlight the relationship between content and container, according to the thesis that comparing a given volume to a module increased the perception of its consistency.

This piece is in very good vintage condition, with a pinpoint chipping at one corner and signs of wear such as slight lines across the surface. The resin is yellowed with a uniform amber color. The Danese Milano mark is present under the base, albeit worn and barely visible.
These works by Enzo Mari are extremely sought after in the marketplace, and it is now really difficult to find his resin solids in such condition, without damage that would affect their value.
