“Aggregato sfera” combinable table lamp for Artemide
This desk lamp was first issued by Artemide in 1976, as a part of the combinable system crated by the Italian designers Enzo Mari and with Giancarlo Fassina. This system was composed by modular elements that could be freely combined to create different configurations of lamps (floor, table, wall and ceiling lamps). However, they were sold in an already finished shape. This desk lamp was the Aggregato Tavolo, to whom two possible kind of lampshades could be combined: conical or spherical. Our specimen features a spherical shade made of opaline metacrylate (a plastic material), and still bears two original labels by Artemide.
What is most distinctive of this series is the fact that, as in almost all Enzo Mari's works. the technical elements dictate the piece its aesthetical apperance, in a result that was often out of the comfort zone of his days. This lamp features gorgeous details and, thanks to clever double ball joints, is very versatyle and can easily be moved to illuminate a vast area.
The lamp remains in good conditions, with normal wear and oxidation due to time and use.
