This silver-plated metal fruit basket is a creation of Italian design master Gio Ponti, made by Krupp in the 1940s.

Part of a wide-ranging collaboration between the designer and the manufacture, which included cutlery and decorative objects, this piece is among them undoubtedly one of the most sought-after and highly valued, for its sculptural features and rationalist sophistication.

Made of silver-plated metal strips, this piece is in excellent vintage condition, with patina of time and no dents. It bears the maker's mark on the handle. This rare decorative complement deserves to enrich any important collection of Gio Ponti pieces.
