Pair of early blue “Spider” floor lamps
SOLD

Pair of iconic floor lamps in beautiful blue paint designed by Joe Colombo in 1965 as a part of his long collaboration with lighting company O-Luce. The model is called Spider, and received the Compasso d'Oro Award in 1967.
The lamp features a metal shade and a bakelite (a phenolic resin that has insulating properties) joint that allows it to rotate, directing the light. The shade also slides on the stem to adjust the height. The Spider series featured a complete range of floor, wall, table and ceiling lamps. The lamps were designed to mount Cornalux lightbulbs (or at least B22 bulbs), but now O-Luce also sells an adaptor to use regular E27 led lighbulbs covered with a Cornalux-shaped glass shade.
Although the lamp is still being produced, special color like blue were no longer manufactured after the 1980s.
These two specimen are from the 1970s and remain in good vintage conditions, with some wear. Both are labeled.
