Pair of “LP5” wall lamps by Ignazio Gardella for Azucena, Italy, 1950s, original edition

This pair of “LP5” wall lamps was designed by Ignazio Gardella for Azucena in the 1950s.

An icon of Italian mid-century lighting, the LP5 exemplifies the understated elegance that made Azucena one of the most refined design firms in postwar Milan.

The lamps are preserved in fully original condition, with original glass shades, brass parts showing a beautiful natural patina, and the engraved Azucena mark on the back confirming authenticity. They remain in excellent vintage condition, with small wear consistent with age and use.
Founded in 1947 by Gardella together with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua, Azucena became a symbol of Milanese modernism, blending architectural rigor with artisanal craftsmanship. The LP5 remains a celebrated example of this vision, balancing pure geometric form with luxurious materials.
This pair is an early edition from the 1950s, increasingly hard to source on the market today. A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most timeless and collectible designs of Italian lighting.
These LP5 wall lamps embody the essence of Azucena’s refined modernism and represent a milestone in 20th-century Italian design history.
