“Forma di Maggio” wood sculpture
This sculpture was created by Italian artist and designer Urano Palma in 1978. Entitled "Forma di Maggio", a pun that winks to its shape ("Forma di Maggio" means "shape of May" and sounds similar to "Formaggio", "Cheese"). Urano was a very ectectic artist, that could produce extremely tall sculpture as well as small daily objects. His series of trones has become an icon of Italian 1970s design. This piece, an iperrealistic sculpture of a cheese piece, it's also influenced by Pop Art, but distinguished by the carved holes that were Urano's signature marks. The piece it's also signed on the back with fire branding, as it was a real piece of Parmigiano Reggiano. It remains in good conditions, with patina and small wear.
This piece was part of our exhibition "Handful" for Design in the City Ljubljana 2023.
